Biography
Dr. Cannon spent nearly 35 years in secondary education wearing several hats, first as a Special Educator, Director Designee, Dean of Students, School Counselor, Substance Abuse and Crisis Intervention committee member/counselor, and Athletic Coach. During Dr. Cannon鈥檚 final years at the secondary level, he began teaching at Argosy and Adler University as an Adjunct Professor. Dr. Cannon has a passion for teaching and therefore is committed to creating a pleasant, supportive, affirmative and conducive to learning environment where students can critically think, be themselves, and understood for who they are. Dr. Cannon鈥檚 goal is to help students and future practitioners become empowered, develop practical skills, and move forward with purpose, resilience, self-determination, confidence, and compassion toward others. As a testament to his devotion to education, Dr. Cannon has (in addition to his bachelor鈥檚) earned two (2) master鈥檚 degrees and a doctorate from CACREP accredited programs to further his career. Over Dr. Cannon鈥檚 extensive years as an educator and now as a Counselor Educator, he has taught numerous courses at both the master鈥檚 and doctoral level. Dr. Cannon is committed to preparing his students to confront the 鈥渞eal world鈥 challenges within their perspective counseling career track. Dr. Cannon鈥檚 research, scholarship, and interests include but are not limited to the following: (a) Social Justice (b) Disproportionality, (c) Wellness, (d) Multicultural Counseling, and (e) Advocacy. Dr. Cannon is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), and the American School Counselor Association (ACES). Dr. Cannon is also a long-standing member of 蜜桃视频鈥檚 Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) honor society.
