Earn Your Endorsement in Middle Grades Mathematics

The Middle Grades Mathematics Endorsement Certificate is a post-baccalaureate certificate program that provides students with the opportunity to take mathematics courses that will help them obtain a subsequent endorsement in middle grades mathematics to their Professional Educator License (PEL).

Candidates must have their Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)

Career Enhancements

Obtaining an endorsement in Middle Grades - Mathematics will prepare you to teach math courses in grades 5-8. With this endorsement, candidates will be prepared for math teaching roles in public and private schools. 

Required Courses - 19 credits.

  • College Algebra (3)
  • Elementary Statistics (3)
  • Number Theory for Teachers (3)
  • Teaching Mathematics in the Middle Grade
  • Applied Calculus (4)
  • Modern Geometry (3)
  • Teaching Mathematics in the Middle Grades (3)

Program Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) 
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher to be admitted
